CLF Pay-It-Forward Program

Remembering Pride Month’s activist roots, I can’t help but think about my own beginnings as a young, queer activist.

I went to a conservative high school, where I and some of my classmates fought to establish a queer support center and to create a Gay-Straight Alliance. Because of that work, I was thrust into a number of serious situations I won’t go into detail about here, and even faced possible expulsion. 

That experience was incredibly hard. But it gave birth to a burning spirit in me that persisted throughout the coming years, and that led directly to the creation of Cute Little Fuckers. 

Sex-positive feminist Carol Queen, the creator of Good Vibes, once described CLF as an activist project in an adorable package, and that is the spirit I try to bring to everything we do.

You may have noticed that at Cute Little Fuckers, we don't often dive into the nitty gritty BS that comes with being queer in the world. And that's not because we're not aware of it. (Believe me, I have been very aware of it for a very long time.)

Rather, it's because—along with all the badass frontline fighters who are working to change the world, along with all that hardness and grit—I think softness is also needed. 

I'm committed to supporting my community where they're at… and I find that a lot of what we need is softness, tenderness, support... a place where we're loved and where the nonsense of the world can fade away. 

I want CLF to be that refuge, where being queer is easy and you can be safe & accepted as you are.

And the mutual aid work we do through our Pay-It-Forward program brings that impact to others. It feels amazing to still be supporting our queer community in a tangible way, all these years later.

This community support is what CLF is all about, and what Pride Month is also about when we touch the heart of it. 🌈🫶
