I still remember the first review we ever received. I remember it because having someone from the wider world share their CLF story–and having the review be so awesome–felt like the hugest milestone.
Before I launched CLF, I was blindsided by a health issue (disabling nerve damage in both hands, among other issues) that left me unable to do the work I had previously been doing. This left me scared and unsure of what to do going forward–in work and in life.
When I came up with the idea to make cool, gender affirming toys, something inside me clicked. Not only was this a way to lean into my creative side, but it was also a way to show up and do something special for my community.
I put so much work into those first designs. It felt like a huge gamble, but it also felt important, so I went for it.
As a queer, trans creator, sending my work out into the world was scary. So when we received our first review, it felt incredible… and incredibly validating. It showed me that this thing I’d created was something other people actually wanted. Something they loved.
I know that every company these days asks you to leave a review. And that can often feel like just a marketing tactic.
But for me and other creators and small businesses, it’s actually a really meaningful way to feel connected to the people who are touched by what we’re doing. That’s why I’m so grateful for every single person who leaves a review. It’s like a pipeline of love pumped straight to my heart! 💗💗💗
It’s been several years now and I still get wildly excited every time someone shares their CLF story on the site. Yep, that’s right - I read every one 💜
Thank you for continuing to affirm for me that what we do here matters.
You're all the sweetest. 💕
P.S. Rest assured, my personal validation does not actually come from toy reviews, but it’s still so sweet to know that what we do is important to y’all!
P.P.S. In the Atlanta area? CLF will be at Furry Weekend Atlanta this weekend, with a table at their night market on the 9th! Come by and say hey!
