What might you expect?

You’ll start to notice some physical changes as your body adjusts to the influx of new hormones. If you’re taking testosterone, you’ll develop bottom growth, and perhaps experience vaginal dryness. If you’re taking estrogen and/or androgen blockers, your penis and testicles will shrink, and you’ll have fewer erections. In fact, the things that once made your body sing (whether related to your genitals or not) might not rev your engine anymore. But don’t worry. That just means you get to discover what gets you going now.

A Wild Rollercoaster Ride of a Sex Drive 🎢

As your hormone levels are adjusted to align more closely with your gender identity, you may find that your libido dips (because of estrogen) or spikes (because of testosterone). These changes can be intense at first, with your sex drive bouncing all over the place, but things should eventually stabilize. 

OMG Your Orgasm 🌊💦

Even your orgasms will hit different. For transfeminine folks, it can be a bit of a mixed bag: Orgasms may feel more full-bodied, and you’ll eventually be able to have multiple orgasms within a smaller refractory period, but it might take you longer to get there. For transmasculine folks, meanwhile, an orgasm can feel more intense and focused, and you might find that arousal comes more quickly.

All of these changes aside, what’s especially rad is that getting gender affirming hormone therapy can make sex feel extra awesome simply because it reduces dysphoria.
